Landscape Design Plans for Napa & Bay Area Homeowners
A scaled landscape design masterplan for your home, with the materials, plant-count, and cost estimates your contractor needs to bid and build it.
A landscape design plan can change everything.
Most homes’ outdoor spaces get pieced together one project at a time (or one nursery trip at a time), with no unifying plan behind them, resulting in:
Plants that detract instead of providing beauty, shelter, and shade
Paving and materials that disconnect instead of unify and/or are past their prime
No comfortable place to sit and relax with family and friends
Minimal curb appeal and non-optimized property value
We’ll collaborate to design a garden that supports your lifestyle.
Landscape design is a phased process that starts with getting to know you and your property, how you live, and what you need and want from your garden.
From there, the design process begins. You'll be updated regularly, so you're never left wondering what's happening next. At the end of each phase, we’ll meet to discuss the plans and solicit feedback.
When it's time to build your garden, we can continue together with me checking progress and ensuring it’s built according to plan.
PHASE 1:
On-Site Consultation
Every Landscape Design Plan starts with a focused, 60-minute in-person consultation. We'll walk your property together and discuss your goals and ideas. You'll come out of it with clear next steps and direction for your garden.
I record our meeting and create a PDF summary emailed next business day. Use it to forge ahead on your own or as the first step toward a Landscape Design Plan.
Cost is $200. Sign on for a Landscape Design Plan within 14 days of receiving a full design proposal, and your $200 is credited towards it.
Landscape Design Plans start at $3,500.
PHASE 2:
Base Plan & Site Analysis
Before we can begin designing, we need a scaled base plan to work from.
I’ll create a scaled base plan from a property site map you provide using drafting software. On site, I’ll verify measurements and take photos and video for reference.
No site map? If your site is relatively flat, I'll measure your property and inventory what's on it for an additional fee. Sloped sites require a topographical survey.

PHASE 3:
Concept Design
During this phase, I’ll explore ideas that compliment your goals, site, and home.
You'll get the Conceptual Landscape Plan and an estimate of what it will cost to install. We’ll meet to discuss both and get your feedback.
PHASE 4:
Master Plan Design/Developed Design
Master plan. I refine the design based on what you told me.
4. Materials, planting and lighting. A materials package, planting plan, lighting plan and an updated cost estimate. Together with the master plan, this is what contractors use to give you bids.
Wrong steps are often expensive steps. Most contractors know how to build. Your master plan tells them what to build, and you'll have a cost estimate before anyone breaks ground.
Specific recommendations for your site, goals, and aesthetic. No guesswork.

MY GOAL:
Your garden becomes your favorite room of the house, and you look forward to stepping outside every day.
At the end of our 60 minutes together, you'll have a clear path forward for tackling your garden design project.

Definitely worth it.
“After your visit we felt more confident about the placement of our pergola and especially the ideas on replacing the deck with a single layer of cobblestone and pea gravel.”
I’ve already recommended you to another friend!
